No Beginning, no Ending, Solo show, In The Rock Room, Berlin l 07.11.–01.12.2024

In his artistic practice Jonas Liesaus seeks strategies that allow his paintings to grow and change. By combining various modes of painting with the use of printing techniques, he creates a system of repetition and circulation. Responding to the history of the exhibition space—a former artist’s studio that evolved from a storage room into a gallery—Jonas Liesaus carefully selected works that themselves carry a story of transformation: a formerly destroyed piece, cut into fragments and brought into a new context, elements of one work finding their way into the next. Empty spaces become visual protagonists, creating subtle shifts in seriality and rhythm. Through his focus on materiality, scale, and installation, Jonas Liesaus challenges the relationship between artwork and space.
